Frequently Asked Questions

Your Questions Answered

What should I expect from going to therapy?

Progress! Talk to your therapist anytime you feel you are, or you are not making progress. This is valuable information for the therapy process.
Not to be concerned about your therapist’s feelings, trust that your therapist knows how to do her or his job and take care of themselves. Therapy is about you. Learn something new! If you are not learning something new, help the therapist help you. The therapist should assist you in finding the answers to your own questions by connecting her or his knowledge to your unique experiences.

Challenge your therapist if you need to. You deserve it. Feel cared for, understood, and heard by your therapist. Trust your instincts and look out for yourself. Your therapist should explore different methods to address your concerns until it feels right for you. You decide if the therapy style used by your therapist works for you. Talk to your therapist before deciding to switch to another therapist. Even though in some cases it might be needed, it’s important to prevent “therapy shopping.” Give your current therapist time to learn about yourself and give yourself time to work through your expectations

When does therapy end?

DMomentum Therapy and the client may agree to discontinue treatment at any time. DMomentum Therapy will encourage clients to provide feedback aiming to improve services as needed.

How is my information protected?

DMomentum Therapy has the responsibility to protect clients’ confidentiality as much as possible, and will only release strictly needed information with your written consent or permission.

What are the risks of therapy?

You must be aware that during psychotherapy seeking to resolve relationship concerns, the other person can similarly experience uncomfortable feelings, leading to adverse changes in the relationship. Please consider that some jobs inquire information about prior or current therapy attendance. What happens if I don’t see any progress? We recognize that therapy represents an investment of time, money, and energy. We consistently assess treatment and proper progress with clients to offer best practices to resolve your concerns; however, if a situation fails to improve or deteriorates and/or you no longer feel comfortable with DMomentum Therapy, we will provide a referral to another professional for consultation or treatment.

What are the benefits of therapy?

Counseling involves active effort on your part for the therapy to be most successful.

Therapy often leads to resolution of concerns, increases the ability to cope with relationships, solutions to specific problems, greater understanding of personal goals, and significant reductions in feelings of distress.

What happens if I need to cancel my appointment

DMomentum Therapy encourages clients to cordially provide a cancellation notice within 24 hours in advance of the appointment. If clients recurrently miss appointments without excuse or notification, DMomentum Therapy reserves the right to charge 50% of the consultation fee.

May I use my Insurance?
DMomentum Therapy accepts out-of-network plans. This means that I am not in-network with any insurance companies. When using an out-of-network plan, you will file the superbill to your insurance company in order to receive any qualified reimbursements from them. If you have a healthcare insurance policy, please read over your mental health coverage to determine if your insurance company has an out-of-network plan and that you meet their deductible.
